I went into this facility because my work doesn't allow sick days and I needed a doctor's note to miss any days of work. It's been 5 days since I left and I am still sick. (And if I could add that my whole family is sick now). Afshan Malik, my doctor, told me that I just had a cough, didn't need any antibiotics and ARGUED with me over getting the doctor's note that I came to get in the first place. I asked for the next day off and she told me it was just a cough and refused to give me one. It is definitely more than a cough and I have been miserable because she wanted to treat me like a hypochondriac. I informed her I worked a 12 hour shift the next day with the public and she did not care. Every visit at Patient First means I get a bill for $175. So I paid for this visit to not get treated the way I needed to be. To get the medication and time off of work I would need, would require me paying an additional $175 for the same cold after seeing a second doctor. After arguing that I didn't understand why she was fighting with me over a doctors note for the next day, she finally agreed to give me one. I am currently pregnant and it has been a rough pregnancy. I haven't been able to eat because of my horrible morning sickness, which I explained to the doctor when I told her that I was taking Diclegis. So being sick for longer than necessary because I didn't get any medications and then had to go into work after the next day has made it worse. I was also extremely disappointed when I was informed at the front desk that my copay has gone up because Patient First would rather us see our primary care doctor instead of going to them for those problems to try to deter patients from coming. Needing a doctors note for a cold is the only reason I even use Patient First in the first place. So if you're TELLING CUSTOMERS that you're purposely raising the copay prices to deter us from coming, then I will take my business elsewhere. Your facility treated their patients like they didn't matter and as if I was making up excuses to try to get out of work. I left the facility in tears over how the doctor treated me. I will be finding a primary care doctor, like I was told I needed to do. And then I will have no reason to use Patient First anymore. WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD. I will NEVER be going back to another Patient First.

  • I love going to this office since I don’t have to have an appointment. I really have to wait very long. I went there with a bad migraine and the receptionist checking me in was so friendly and empathetic, she already help me feel a little better. The nurse and doctor were also very calm and caring.

This place is a joke. They act as people's primary doctors (in addition to urgent care) but they don't prescribe controlled substances anymore because they are afraid of retribution from the Virginia Prescription Monitoring Program. This means doctors prescribe fewer types of medications than a nurse practitioner, physicians assistant, naturopaths, podiatrists, dentists, etc... that must be pretty emasculating (and I mean that in gender-neutral disempowerment kind of way). Patient First needs to be stripped of its license to treat people as a family doctor if their policies prevent them from providing the same services that a family doctor prescribes so I'll be writing the board of medicine. Hopefully this means fewer doctors and more nurses, which is the appropriate level of staff needed for the work they can actually perform.
